It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
On the eve of Independence Day, I offer two short bullets regarding life at PCC:
- Praise God! The Worship Selection Team enthusiastically brought forth a candidate to the Leadership Team last Wednesday night and the Leadership Team unanimously approved our candidate! On Sunday, August 5, our candidate and family will be worshipping with us and our candidate will be interviewed in all 4 gatherings. We will then convene in a Stakeholder’s Meeting at 12:30 to vote on our candidate. Stay tuned to your inboxes next week for a special email giving you much more information. We can’t give it yet as the candidate’s current church is releasing information later this week and we want to honor their communications timeline.
- Many asked for the working definition I gave last Sunday regarding the Kingdom of God. Here it is: The kingdom of God is not a realm but a reign, God’s reign. It is where God’s Spirit moves God’s people to embrace God’s priorities in God’s power and see God’s purposes on God’s planet.
As we celebrate our country’s freedom, may we as followers of Jesus passionately live out our freedom in Christ as Paul exhorted us in Galatians 5:1.
This weekend, I will be with you in all four gatherings continuing in our series The Greatest Stories Ever Told. This weekend we will look at the parable of the Unjust Judge and the Persistent Widow in Luke 18:1-8. Have you ever been discouraged because it seems like God isn’t answering your prayers? We’ve all been there. I hope that this weekend we will all be encouraged by Jesus’ parable on the subject.
I love being your pastor!
