For nothing will be impossible with God. Luke 1:37 (ESV)

Good Afternoon PCC!

It is almost too mind boggling to grasp … a virgin being pregnant with God! To assure Mary, as well as us in times when we are facing monumental challenges to obedience, God gave her a perspective regarding His power.

The word impossible occurs nine times in the English Standard Version of the New Testament, and most of the references tell us that this word doesn’t appear in God’s regular vocabulary.

  • Matthew 17:20: “Nothing will be impossible.”
  • Matthew 19:26: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
  • Mark 10:27: “With man it is impossible, but not with God.”
  • Luke 1:37: “ For nothing will be impossible with God.”
  • Luke 18:27: “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

These references demonstrate how much God loves placing our impossibilities in His hands. Just as He parted the sea for Israel, allowed Elizabeth and Zechariah to get pregnant in their old age, allowed Mary to conceive as a virgin, and raised Jesus from the dead, God is more than capable of reversing our irreversible problems.

As a community we are considering this Christmas season what it looks like to center our lives, attention, and priorities on Simply ChristmasGod coming to earth in Christ to rescue humans. In light of Heaven coming to earth as a baby, can I ask you two questions?

What’s impossible in your life right now? What impossible prayers are you praying that are in line with the will of God?

PCC … let’s believe big! God is the God of the impossible!

This Sunday, we will look at our third character of Christmas, Joseph, and learn from him the absolute blessing of obedience. Pastor Carlos DeVitis will be breaking open God’s word for us in all four gatherings. I love listening to Carlos teach God’s word — you won’t want to miss it. I’ll also see you Sunday in all four gatherings.

I am also praying for all our invites going out for Christmas Eve.

I love being your pastor!
