Juntos

Overview

For over fifteen years, CFC has rented space from Peninsula Covenant Church (PCC). Over that time, we have shared varying levels of relationship and partnership. This proposal represents a significant step forward toward a deeper, more intentional relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ at CFC—our fellow Evangelical Covenant Church partners.

Together, we desire to demonstrate mutual fellowship in Christ as two distinct congregations sharing a common mission field: Redwood City. PCC has long had a heart for East Redwood City, while CFC brings deep cultural understanding and experience ministering among its predominantly immigrant, Spanish-speaking residents.

We are joining CFC in their already established ministry relationships within a trailer park community in East Redwood City that includes roughly fifty units along Bayshore Road, known as Le Mar Trailer Park. This community, largely composed of undocumented families from Michoacán, Mexico, has repeatedly faced hardships from flooding and a 2012 fire. CFC has been faithfully serving this neighborhood, and we have been invited to come alongside them. It is a tremendous opportunity and an honor to partner with them in this ministry.

Purpose and Goals

The overarching goal of this partnership is to embody the call of Jesus to love our neighbors, especially those who are poor or marginalized, and to experience mutual transformation through
shared ministry.

We seek not only to serve the community but to learn from it—allowing the local poor to bless us through their stories, faith, and perseverance. Our relational goal is a growing love and unity between our two churches and a shared witness of Christ’s compassion in our city.

For Peninsula Covenant Church members, we hope this partnership will awaken a deeper awareness of the needs in our own community and cultivate a lived obedience to Christ’s command to care for “the least of these.”

Spiritually, we pray for God’s Spirit to move powerfully among the families of the trailer park, bringing hope, healing, and new faith in Christ. We long to see entire families come to know Jesus. Furthermore, we are encouraged by the possibility that some residents—many of whom come from regions of Mexico where missionaries cannot safely go—might, in turn, share Christ’s love with their families back home.

Ultimately, we hope to see mutual growth in all three communities: PCC, CFC, and the families of East Redwood City, bound together in the transforming love and mission of Jesus Christ.

Projects

Our immediate focus is to join CFC in caring for families within Le Mar Trailer Park, where we launched Navidad Juntos: Una Sola Mesa over Christmas 2025. In partnership with community leaders, we provided heaters, blankets, quilts, and gift cards for families in need, while participating in a celebration led by residents themselves.

As relationships deepen, we anticipate being called upon to assist with additional needs such as adequate nutrition, access to spiritual materials, and opportunities for connection to local church communities.

Anticipated Programs and Events:
  • Biblical and educational resources: Spanish-language Bibles, devotionals, and ministry materials to encourage spiritual growth.
  • Community engagement: Support for shared outreach events, including meals, community gatherings, and an Alpha program to help residents explore faith in Christ.
  • Scholarships for Summer Camp 2026 (staffed by SACC, Kids Ministry, and PE+) will offer a strong biblical message and relational connection, with free participation for children from the Le Mar Trailer Park.
  • Immigration and practical assistance: Partnering with CFC and trusted advisors to provide guidance for residents navigating legal or systemic challenges.
  • Leadership development: Funding a part-time liaison position (renewable annually) to facilitate communication and joint ministry efforts between PCC and CFC.
  • We also envision this site becoming a cross-cultural learning lab for PCC’s high school ministry. Under Jeremiah’s leadership, students will participate in service and relational engagement as preparation for and integrated into future Mexico mission trips.

Expected Outcomes and Impact

This project is designed not only to meet material needs but to create enduring relationships that reflect the love and unity of Christ in East Redwood City. We expect that through this partnership, both PCC and CFC will experience spiritual renewal as we learn from and serve alongside one another.

Anticipated outcomes include:
  • Strengthened unity in Christ between two Evangelical Covenant congregations through shared mission, prayer, and service.
  • Mutual transformation as members of both churches build friendships across language, cultural, and socioeconomic lines—each discovering new dimensions of God’s heart for the poor and the immigrant.
  • Tangible care for vulnerable families in the trailer park community, with practical needs such as heating, food, and summer opportunities for children being met in Jesus’ name.
  • Expanded evangelistic reach, particularly through the Alpha program and relational ministry, resulting in individuals and families coming to faith in Christ.
  • Empowered local leadership, including the development of a liaison role to coordinate ministry and model collaboration for future mission endeavors.
  • Cross-cultural discipleship opportunities for PCC high school students, developing empathy, humility, and global awareness through direct local engagement.
  • Greater awareness within PCC of the realities facing many East Redwood City residents, inspiring continued compassion and engagement with our immediate community.

Our prayer is that this partnership will become a model of what it means for neighboring congregations to work together as one body—bearing witness to Christ’s love in word and deed, across every line that might otherwise divide. We believe the Kingdom impact will extend far beyond the Le Mar Trailer Park, shaping the future of mission collaboration in Redwood City and beyond.
